When ADEC Preview was approached by Gosford Vascular Services, they had the daunting task of trying to digitise all their patient medical records.
With a lack of space and the requirement to be able to easily locate and add additional information to files, Gosford Vascular was wondering if the scanning and elimination of the paper-based medical records would be feasible.
In addition the surgeon was looking to utilise data mining software to correlate the information stored in the 25 years of patient files. This would allow him to research key aspects of vascular disease within these patients, and to try and locate links between certain aspects and common patterns.
ADEC Preview in a few collections, collected over 33,000 patient record files for scanning. The files were prepared, scanned and uploaded to a temporary eView+ site for viewing - all within a three week period.
The digitised information was then converted to searchable PDF files making all the text within the files searchable, the key benefits of this were to allow the surgeon to easily search, collate and data mine the information for his research.
As commented by the directors of Gosford Vascular Services -"The entire process from the initial contact with ADEC through to the final delivery of the scanned images was fantastic; we found ADEC to be very accommodating and helpful whenever we had questions".
Gosford Vascular Services will eventually process the remaining 20,000 records with ADEC.
